It’s been said that a good business man can turn a complete failure into a success. Never has that been more true than in the case of Jay-Z who, it has been reported, just sold his flailing streaming music service Tidal to Facebook for an incredible sum of 2.3 Billion dollars.
While Tidal flopped upon its initial launch, the company convinced multi-billion dollar company Facebook that it was still worth something. That something turned out to be over two billion dollars.
The Jiggaman had this to say:
“I can’t believe they bought it. It’s like, wow, you’re dropping that much on it. I thought I was going to have to throw in a night with Beyonce or something for that, but okay, you just want the streaming service. I started Tidal to help give the artists more because I felt like there wasn’t enough revenue coming from services like Spotify and Pandora. Now, I’m just like let’s forget about the artists and show me the money.”
