It all started in December of 2014 when Lil Wayne expressed his frustration with Cash Money Records via Twitter. This happened shortly after the contest on I Discover Stars was announced, where Birdman stated that he was looking for new talent. The problem was that Lil Wayne’s “Carter V” release date was pushed back at the same time and Weezy had not been paid his advance for beginning the album, nor completion.
The heat intensified when Lil Wayne and Birdman’s new protege’, “Young Thug”, seemingly capitalized off of this dispute by adding fire to the fuel stating that he was serious about creating a Carter VI album. This brought Lil Wayne to rage and sharp words and disses were exchanged for months.
